Scholastic Gold Key Winner

Quaker Quill Editor-in-Chief Krisna Kumar has been recognized with a gold key, the highest honor in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards regional competition (full list of regional honorees here).

Krisna’s poetry and short story writing caught the eyes of this year’s judges. Readers can check out her winning poem, “The Man Who Smokes on the Corner of the Street,” and her short story, “I am the Devil and I have come to take you to Hell.” You can also read her collected Quill reporting at this link – including her article comparing the protests in Iran to Persepolis and Black Lives Matter, which has been trending on our site since September.

She now advances to the national phase of the competition, whose winners will be announced in March.  Good luck, Krisna!
