On Saturday, October 14th, the Friends School community celebrated the 25th anniversary of one of our biggest annual traditions: Scarlet & Grey Day.
Filled with nonstop sports, food, and Friends spirit, the celebration brought the whole Friends community together for a day of live music, indoor and outdoor games, and more! The Athletic Department, Parents Association, and Development Office organized the festivities.
Not only was Saturday Scarlet & Gray Day, but there was another tradition at work: Rivalry Day. Friends students, Park School students, and their friends and families swarmed in from around the city to watch the two progressive independent schools go head to head.
As seven of Friends’ best teams went against Park’s best, hundreds of fans cycled through every emotion. In the end, Park beat Friends 4-3 in the Rivalry Day tournament.
It was an exciting day. But once fans arrived, they saw that the sky didn’t feel as good as them. It rained almost the whole day – which explains why the indoor volleyball games garnered more viewers than the field hockey & soccer games occurring outside.
Despite the weather, hundreds of Friends community members came out to celebrate a quarter century of Scarlet & Grey.
